Aditya Dhar's directorial Dhurandhar movie is on its way to become the biggest movie of Bollywood in terms of earning. While most of the users on social media are lavishing praise on the makers for exposing Pakistan-funded terrorism, a few users are calling it a propaganda movie. Nevertheless, fans are digging deep into Dhurandhar's Shooting Locations as the movie is based in Pakistan but has not been shot there.
Dhurandhar has been shot in multiple locations- Bangkok (Thailand), Punjab (India), and other Indian cities. Since the movie revolves around Lyari Town, production designers have made almost identical Karachi Town in Bangkok.
Notably, multiple key scenes have been shot in Punjab, India. One of them is Rehman Dakait's Haveli (Mansion) shown in the movie.
Bollywood actor Akshaye Khann plays the character of a Pakistani gangster Rehman Dakait. Rehman Dakait was actually a real gangster of Pakistan who was shot dead in an encounter by Pakistani SP Chaudhry Aslam. Rehman Dakait has been shown as the one who arranged arms and ammunition for terrorists who carried out 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai.
Notably, the movie showcase Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) living along with his family in a mansion in Lyari, Karachi.
Guess what! Rehman Dakait's haveli shown in the movie is actually present in Amritsar, Punjab. Actress Saumya Tandon who plays Ulfat, Rehman Dakait's wife, took to her X handle and shared BTS pictures from one of the scenes of Dhurandhar.
Sharing pictures, Tandon wrote, "The very first scene I shot for #Dhurandhar , in Amritsar-Rehman Dakait’s haveli. It was Nov last year.."
True Scoop tried to dig deep and found that Rehman Dakait's Haveli shown in the movie is actually Lal Kothi (Gandhi Ashram), below Bhandari Bridge in Amritsar.
Caretaker of the Ashram, Deepak Yadav, talking to True Scoop said, "Multiple films have been shot here including the one Sadiyaan that featured Rishi Kapoor, and Rekha. I don't remember names of the movies much. Last year, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Ranveer Singh came here for a film's shooting. Sunny Deol along with his son Karan Deol have also come here. The building is own by a Trust, no individual owns it."
