OTT Releases This Week: Stranger Things Finale, Haq & other movies, series to watch

To start the New Year on a high, OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc have lined up multiple web series and movies.

The countdown for New Year has begun and people are all set to enter 2026 with high hopes and new resolutions. To start the New Year on a high, OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc have lined up multiple web series and movies that will be released on streaming giants.

This week will be headlined by Stranger Things Finale undoubtedly. The world is eagerly waiting to see the end of Vecna aka Henry Creel by the hands of Eleven and her friends. Apart from Stranger Things Season 2 Volume 2 Episode 8 (finale), various other series and movies are expected to be released this week. Check the list below-

1) Stranger Things Finale

Created by The Duffer Brothers i.e. Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things Finale will show the ultimate showdown between Eleven & friends with Vecna aka Henry Creel aka 001 aka Mr. Whatsit.

Stranger Things Season 2 Volume 2 Episode 7 ended with Eleven, Hopper and others entering The Upside Down in order to reach The Abyss, home of Vecna, Mind-flayer, Demogorgons, etc.

In India, Stranger Things Finale will start streaming on Netflix on January 1 at 6:30 am.

The series features Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven (Jane Hopper), Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, etc.

2) Haq

If you love to watch movies based on true events, then Haq can be your perfect watch. Slated to be released on January 2 on Netflix, Haq is a legal drama inspired by real life case of Shah Bano.

Directed by Suparn S. Verma, Haq features Yami Gautam as Shazia Bano, Emraan Hashmi as Mohammed Ahmed Khan, in the key roles. The storyline revolves around Shazia Bano who sues her husband Ahmed Khan for giving her Triple Talaq.

In 1932, Indore-based Shah Bano got married to Mohammed Ahmad Khan, an affluent and well-known advocate in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and had five children from the marriage.

After 14 years of marriage, Ahmed took a younger woman as his second wife. After living with both of them, Ahmed gave triple talaq to Shah Bano when she was 62-years-old.

In the end, Shah Bano won the right to alimony from her husband. However, some politicians mounted a campaign for the verdict's nullification.

The judgement in favour of Shah Bano in this case sparked criticisms among Muslims, some of whom cited the Qur'an to show that the judgement was in conflict with Islamic law.

3) Eko

Slated to be released on Netflix on December 31, Eko is a Malayalam mystery-thriller that features Sandeep Pradeep as Peeyoos, Saurabh Sachdeva as Kuriachan, and more in the key roles.

Directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, Eko revolves around the search of a dog breeder. Kuriachan, a famed dog breeder goes missing and his disappearance draws others into a web of hidden truths and emotional conflicts.

4) Love from 9 to 5

Created by María Andrea Otero and Carolina Rivera, Love from 9 to 5 is a romantic comedy that will be released on Netflix on January 1, 2026. It features Valeria played by Ana González Bello, Santiago played by Diego Klein, and more in the key roles. Love from 9 to 5 will showcase lovestory of two totally different people i.e. woman who is hard-working and man who is a 'nepo-kid'.

5) Follow My Voice

Slated to be released on Amazon Prime Video on January 2, 2026, Follow My Voice is a Spanish romantic drama based on popular novel on the same name written by Ariana Godoy.

The emotional romantic drama revolves around Klara played by Berta Castañé. Klara is a young woman who spends 76 days confined at home after a mental health crisis. During this period, her only connection to the outside world is a late-night radio programme called 'Follow My Voice.'
