Affectionately called as the 'Badshah of Bollywood', Shah Rukh Khan on Tuesday won his first-ever National Award. Despite being part of Bollywood and doing plethora of movies in his 30-year career, SRK did not win any National Award before this.
However, SRK's long wait was finally over. He won his first National Award for the film "Jawaan." Shah Rukh traveled to Delhi to receive his award. He received it from President Draupadi Murmu.
He was seen sitting with Rani Mukerji, Vikrant Massey, and South superstar Mohanlal at the National Awards ceremony.
Apart from earning the respect, National Award also brings you a medal, a certificate, and a prize money of Rs 2 lakh.
Shah Rukh Khan won the award in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category. However, as per Aaj Tak he will receive Rs 1 lakh instead of Rs 2 lakh. The reason behind this is actor Vikrant Massey.
Actually, Vikrant and Shah Rukh are sharing the National Award for Best Actor. Vikrant won this award for his film "12th Fail." In such a situation, both will have to share the prize money.
The National Awards rules clearly state that if two actors are sharing an award, they must split the prize money. However, they will receive separate medals and certificates.
This year, in addition to Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey, several other stars are sharing their National Awards. The Telugu film "Baby" and the Tamil film "Parking" both won in the Best Screenplay category.
Janaki Bodiwala for the Gujarati film "Vash" and actress Urvashi for Ullozhukku both received the Best Supporting Actress award. Sukriti Venu Bandareddy for "Gandhi Tatha Chettu," Kabir Khandare for "Gypsy," and Trisha Thosar, Srivanas, and Bhargav for "Naal 2" all received the National Award for Best Child Artist.
