Punjab Police has taken a major action in the case linked to 328 missing saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 16 people have been named in the FIR that have been filed in case. The names include former and current office bearers and employees.
One of them is Chartered Accountant Satinder Singh Kohli. Kohli is said to be close to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal. Satinder Singh Kohli used to handle audit work of the SGPC. He came into the spotlight in connection with irregularities in the SGPC accounts.
Multiple sections have been invoked in the FIR that has been filed in the case- Sections 295, 295-A, 409, 465, and 120-B of the IPC.
On December 29, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann had said that there was anger among Sikh community over the missing saroops case. Punjab Chief Minister further questioned SGPC on why did they say that issue of the missing saroops is now over after the government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case.
Punjab Government on December 22 formed a six member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case of 328 missing Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
The SIT is headed by AIG Vigilance Jagatpreet Singh and the investigation is supervised by Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
