A total budget of ₹17.21 crore has been sanctioned for the district under the National Health Mission (NHM), with funds allocated for disease screening, maternal and newborn care, hospital transport, TB testing and other health services.
People aged above 30 will be screened for diabetes, high blood pressure, oral cancer and breast cancer to help detect these conditions at an early stage, while for pregnant women, free facilities have been provided under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana.
These include diet, blood transfusions, laboratory tests and ultrasound scans. ₹1.04 crore has been allocated for these services.
The health department has also allocated ₹36.37 lakh for free referral and transport services, which are expected to benefit 12,122 people travelling to and from hospitals.
For newborn and infant care, ₹10.22 lakh has been sanctioned for the treatment and testing of 2,043 sick infants, while ₹6.13 lakh has been allocated for emergency transport and another ₹22 lakh has been set aside for facility-based newborn care.
TB detection is also part of the plan. A portable X-ray machine has been acquired to conduct testing in slum and industrial areas, Health officials said the aim is to start treatment within 24 hours after TB is confirmed.
₹35.85 lakh has been sanctioned for TB-related activities.
Under the family welfare programme, ₹10.14 lakh has been allocated for female sterilisation and ₹4.23 lakh for male sterilization and other allocations include ₹1.78 lakh for hepatitis control, ₹2 lakh for reconstructive surgery for leprosy patients, ₹1 lakh for eye donation centres and ₹50,000 for dental care.
The health department has also sanctioned ₹4.38 crore in performance and team-based incentives for staff working at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and this includes ₹2.86 crore for Community Health Officers working across 198 centres and ₹1.52 crore for team-based incentives.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rakesh Garg said the department's focus is on ensuring that patients receive the full benefits of government health schemes and awareness campaigns are also being conducted at Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres.
The allocations also include ₹24.44 lakh under Janani Suraksha Yojana for rural areas, ₹10.60 lakh for urban areas and ₹10.96 lakh for diet for pregnant women. The sanctioned funds cover preventive screening, treatment, maternal and newborn services, emergency transport and other healthcare programmes across the district.
