The much-discussed ‘iPhone langar’ is set to move beyond Chandigarh and Mohali, with businessman and social media personality Rakesh Trehan, popularly known as Raja D King, announcing 10 Punjab cities for the next phase of the giveaway.
The cities named are Kharar, Balachaur, Ropar (Rupnagar), Phagwara, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Pathankot, Patiala, Bathinda and Zirakpur.
Trehan had earlier announced plans to distribute iPhones as part of what he describes as an ‘iPhone langar’, with recipients selected through a process linked to his ‘Jai Mata Di’ initiative. Earlier reports said the initial Chandigarh-Mohali exercise was planned around a public selection process, with iPhone 17 and newer models being considered.
October 5 to bring details on how many phones each city gets
The latest announcement has shifted the focus to the 10 new cities, but residents will have to wait for the next major update.
According to Trehan, more information will be shared on October 5, when he is expected to reveal how many phones will be allocated to each city.
This means that while the 10 locations have been announced, the number of recipients from Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda and the other cities has not yet been specified.
The October 5 announcement is therefore expected to provide a clearer picture of the scale of the next phase.
iPhone 17 Pro Max may be among the phones
Trehan has also indicated that the giveaway could involve models above the standard iPhone 17, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max among the possibilities.
However, the exact models and quantities have not been finalised publicly. Trehan has said that the final decision would depend on availability and what he describes as the guidance of ‘Jai Mata Di’.
Earlier, he had said that the iPhone 16 would not be included and that the giveaway would start with the iPhone 17 and newer models.
Jalandhar, Ludhiana among cities now in the spotlight
The announcement is likely to generate particular interest in cities such as Jalandhar and Ludhiana, where residents will now be watching for details about eligibility, selection and the number of phones to be distributed.
The development comes days after Chandigarh authorities stopped the proposed September 22 physical event over concerns about a potentially uncontrolled gathering and public safety.
With 10 new Punjab cities now named, the next key date is October 5, when Trehan says the distribution details will be revealed. Until then, the exact number of phones, selection process and models for each city remain to be announced.
