₹3,000 for general & ₹4,500 for SCs: Punjab women to get 3 months' money in first installment

The first installment will be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts from July 1 through Direct Benefit Transfer, says CM Mann

Punjab government has announced that eligible women will receive three months' financial assistance together under “Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana” and the first installment will be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts from July 1 through Direct Benefit Transfer. CM Mann said that first payment will include a combined amount for three months where women in General Category will receive ₹3,000 while women in Scheduled Caste category will receive ₹4,500. The scheme was announced in Punjab Budget 2026-27 with the aim of providing monthly financial support to women and promoting financial independence.

How much money will eligible women receive?

General Category women will receive ₹1,000 every month but in first installment on July 1 they will get ₹3,000 together whereas Scheduled Caste (SC) women will receive ₹1,500 every month  but their first installment will be ₹4,500 together and the amount will be transferred directly into bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer system.

Around 52 lakh women expected to benefit

According to Punjab government around 52 lakh women aged 18 years and above are expected to benefit from the scheme and this covers nearly 97% of state's female population.

No loss of benefit for late registration

The government has also clarified that women who are unable to complete their beneficiary card registration by July 1 will not lose their benefits and told that even if a woman registers later including as late as October she will still receive money from July 1 onwards and the pending amount will be paid retrospectively.

Long-term welfare scheme

Punjab government has stated that “Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana” is a permanent welfare initiative and not a temporary program and it has allocated a dedicated budget of ₹9,300 crore for the scheme.

Who is eligible?

Women applying for the scheme must:

  • Be a permanent resident of Punjab

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Have an Aadhaar card linked with their bank account

Documents required:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Bank passbook photocopy

  • Punjab residence proof such as Voter ID or Ration Card

  • Mobile number linked with Aadhaar

Who is not eligible?

  • Current government employees

  • Retired government employees

  • Income-tax payers

  • Members of Parliament (MPs)

  • Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs)

  • Wives of current ministers, MPs and MLAs

Kejriwal's statement

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the women of Punjab and said that three months' money will be credited together on July 1 and said general category women will receive ₹3,000 and SC category women will receive ₹4,500 and he also said that if a family has more than one eligible woman each eligible woman will receive financial assistance separately and described the initiative as world's largest women empowerment program.
