In Bhulath area of Kapurthala, a dispute related to the house of MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in his native village Ramgarh took a new turn on Monday when the administration demolished an alleged illegal construction connected to the property. As soon as the action began, tensions escalated in the area.

Prior to the action, Khaira had appealed to his supporters, following which a large number of them gathered outside his house. To prevent any untoward incident, heavy police deployment was made at the site, and the surrounding area was placed under a security cordon.

According to administrative sources, the demolition targeted not the main house but an alleged unauthorized structure attached to it. On the other hand, Khaira termed the action as politically motivated. He stated that the step was being taken without any notice or hearing. Khaira alleged, “On the illegal orders of CM Bhagwant Mann, the police and bureaucracy are attempting to forcibly demolish part of my house in Ramgarh without any notice or hearing.”

Senior police and administrative officials were present at the spot, and the situation in the area remained tense.

Meanwhile, Bhulath DSP Karnael Singh stated that MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira had illegally installed a gate to block a street. The gate was demolished in the presence of BDPO Nadala KS Dhillon and Tehsildar Balwinder Singh, and the street has now been reopened for public access. Considering the situation, police security had been deployed.
