In a major development, Congress MLA from Bholath, Sukhpal Singh Khaira's former PSO (Personal Security Officer) Joga Singh was arrested at Delhi Airport.
As per reports, Khaira's former PSO's arrest has been taken place in connection with a 2015 drug trafficking case. Fazilka Police took action in this 10-year-old case.
Joga Singh was wanted in the 2015 drug trafficking case. As per reports, Fazilka Police in 2015 had arrested 9 people, including Market Committee Abohar’s then Chairman with 2 kg of heroin, 24 kg of poppy husk, intoxicating pills, and a pistol.
Joga Singh's name had popped up during the investigation. Earlier, Khaira's former PSO was granted bail by Punjab and Haryana High Court.
As per reports questioning from Joga is already going on and Punjab Police's Investigave Team has been informed about his arrest from Delhi Airport.
Notably, Khaira has been already been under the scanner in a separate case. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s OSD Rajbir Singh has filed a defamation case against Congress MLA in the court and has alleged that Khaira has made false and baseless allegations against him.
Regarding the same, a notice has been issued to Khaira and the case in the matter will be heard on August 11, 2025 (Monday).
Sukhpal Singh Khaira is known to be one of the senior leaders of Punjab Congress and gained a Congress ticket from Bhulath constituency and was elected as an MLA. He also contested the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur in 2024 but lost the seat.
