In a tragic development, an major accident took place on early Saturday morning on Hoshiarpur–Chintpurni National Highway near Manguwal village. The accident took place around 3:30 am. An ambulance with 5 on board fell into a several feet deep gorge.
As per information received, the road had sunken due to continuous rain in the region. 3 people died in this accident, while 2 people.
The ambulance was coming from Kangra (Dharamshala) carrying a patient. The 2 people who were severely injured sent to the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur due to their critical condition. However, the doctors there have referred a patient to Jalandhar Hospital.
It is being said that due to continuous rain, a part of the ditch has sunk. As a result, the ambulance lost its balance and fell into the ditch. The bodies of all three have been taken out of the ditch by the administration team that reached the spot.
Giving information about the case, ASI Kamaljit Singh said that this accident happened at 3.30 am today.
The police officer said that barricading was done due to the collapse of a part of the ditch, but it is not yet known whether the driver dozed off or due to some reason the ambulance lost its balance and fell into the ditch.
