Multiple schools of Amritsar on Wednesday received bomb threat email. The sender threatened to blow up schools around 2:11 pm. The sender in threatening email wrote about separating Punjab from India. Not only this, but objections over singing India's National Anthem in schools of Punjab were also raised.
A government school- School of Eminence situated in Mall Road, Amritsar also received bomb threat.
Satinder Batish, a Lecturer at the school said, "School received a mail related to bomb. Hence, we informed DC, and other respective officials. Police have arrived and carrying out checking. Holiday has not been declared in the school. Students as well as teachers are currently in school. The email was received on school's email and I got to know about it around 12 pm. We have also informed Dean Sir."
Notably, before Amritsar, two private schools in Moga also received bomb threat emails. At 8:36 AM, DN Model School in Kot Ise Khan, and Cambridge School received the threatening email.
Authorities immediately swung into action, evacuating both schools as a precautionary measure. The bomb squad and dog squad were called to the scene and are conducting thorough searches of the school premises.
The schools had reopened today after almost 20-day break, and a large number of students had arrived when the threats were received.
Parents were promptly informed, and all students were safely sent home. The police are treating the matter with utmost seriousness and are conducting a detailed investigation. No suspicious objects have been found so far, and the search operation is still ongoing.
Notably, schools in Punjab have received similar threats in past few months.
On December 12, multiple private schools of Amritsar received bomb threat on email. Sensing the seriousness of the situation, Amritsar Police were informed by school managements.
As a result, Amritsar Police officials rushed to the spot and sealed the area to carry out checking. However, nothing suspicious was found and the threat email was turned out to be a hoax.
Thereafter, on December 15, eleven schools of Jalandhar received bomb threat email. Here also the threatening email was turned out to be a hoax as police officials did not find anything suspicious during the checking.
Notably, the mail was sent from username 'Leonila Thompson'. The threatening mail advocated for making Punjab a separate nation called 'Khalistan'. It also mentioned 'Khalistan Referendum', 'Ballot vs Bomb'. The mail also incorporated a picture that asked people about 'Khalistan Referendum'.
Interestingly, the latest email received by Amritsar schools on January 14, 2026 somewhat resemble to it.
On December 23, 2025, multiple schools of Patiala received bomb threat email. An unverified screenshot of the threatening email also went viral on X. Apart from threat to blow up schools and railway tracks, the sender also issued death threats to Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. The sender also wrote about separating Punjab from India.
