Amritsar Schools receive bomb threat via Email, students sent home, Police issue statement

A bomb squad and fire brigade units were rushed to the scene, while police officers began inspection operations inside the school premises

In a concerning development, multiple renowned private schools in Amritsar on Friday received bomb threat via an Email. Immediately after this, management of schools informed Amritsar Police.

A parent (mother) who had come to receive his children informed, "I came to here to pick up my child. I received a message from school. I don't know the reason behind it."

Another parent informed, "I am taking my child back home. Holiday has been declared in school today."

Apart from sending messages to parents, school management also called all vans and the children were sent home. Police arrived at the scene and sealed the area. A bomb squad and fire brigade units were rushed to the scene, while police officers began inspection operations inside the school premises. Entry into the school campuses has been restricted.

Notably, what did the sender write in the email has not been revealed as of now.

Commissionerate Police Amritsar took to X handle and has shared their official statement hinting that it may be a mischief. Amritsar Police has appealed to parents to not panic as a Gazetted Officer has been deployed at each school and checks are underway.

"Some schools across the city and rural belt have received a suspicious email. A Gazetted Officer is deployed at each school and anti-sabotage checks are underway. The Cyber Police Station is tracking the source of the mail...

In the past, a few students were found responsible for such mischief. No need to panic — Police is on duty and fully alert."
