Jalandhar witnessed an evening of devotion and spiritual celebration as a special 'Bhajan Clubbing' event was organised at PPR Market on Sunday ahead of the upcoming Jagannath Rath Yatra. A large number of devotees gathered to participate in the devotional programme, which featured soulful bhajans and created a festive atmosphere in the city.
The highlight of the evening was the devotional performance by renowned bhajan singer Angad Prabhu Ji, whose bhajans encouraged devotees to join in singing and chanting the name of Lord Jagannath. The event brought together people of all age groups and served as a spiritual gathering ahead of the grand Rath Yatra scheduled later this week.
The Bhajan Clubbing event was organised ahead of the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra, which will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, under the guidance of the Teerth Jagannath Seva Samiti, Jalandhar. The organisers said the devotional evening was aimed at spreading awareness about the Rath Yatra and inviting residents to become a part of the city's religious celebrations.
The grand procession will begin from Company Bagh Chowk (Shri Ram Chowk) and conclude at Sai Dass School Ground. The day's celebrations will start at 3:00 PM with a grand welcome of Lord Jagannath, followed by Vedic chants and mantra recitation at 4:00 PM before the Rath Yatra formally begins.
During the procession, devotees will accompany the beautifully decorated chariot of Lord Jagannath as it moves through the city. The organisers have appealed to residents to decorate the procession route and welcome Lord Jagannath by showering flowers on the chariot. The Rath Yatra aims to spread the message of devotion, unity and spiritual harmony among people.
One of the major attractions of this year's celebration will be the offering of the traditional '56 Bhog' to Lord Jagannath at 8:00 PM. The offering will be presented with the help of a crane, making it one of the unique highlights of the event.
The procession is expected to reach Sai Dass School Ground at around 8:30 PM. A Maha Aarti along with devotional bhajan singing will be held at 9:00 PM, followed by the distribution of Jagannath Mahaprasad to all devotees at 9:30 PM.
The Teerth Jagannath Seva Samiti has invited devotees from Jalandhar and nearby areas to participate in the Rath Yatra and seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
