The Teerth Jagannath Seva Samiti, Jalandhar, is set to organise a grand Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in the city on Friday, July 24, 2026.
This religious procession will begin from Company Bagh Chowk, also known as Shri Ram Chowk, and conclude at Sai Dass School Ground and the event is expected to bring together a large number of devotees for an evening of devotion, and religious ceremonies dedicated to Lord Jagannath. The celebrations will begin at 3:00 PM with a grand welcome of Lord Jagannath, at 4:00 PM, Vedic chants and mantra recitation will be held, followed by the formal commencement of the Rath Yatra where devotees will accompany the beautifully decorated chariot of Lord Jagannath as it moves through the city towards Sai Das School Ground.
The organisers have called upon residents and devotees to welcome Lord Jagannath by decorating the procession route and showering flowers along the way. The Rath Yatra aims to spread a message of devotion, unity and spiritual harmony among people.
One of the major highlights of the event will be the offering of the traditional ‘56 Bhog’ to Lord Jagannath at 8:00 PM and the offering will be presented with the help of a crane, adding a unique element to the grand religious celebration.
The procession is scheduled to reach Sai Dass School Ground at around 8:30 PM following which at 9:00 PM, a Maha Aarti will be performed, accompanied by devotional bhajan singing, marking the conclusion of the main religious ceremonies and following the Maha Aarti, Jagannath Mahaprasad will be distributed to all devotees at 9:30 PM, the organisers have invited people from Jalandhar and nearby areas to participate in the Rath Yatra and seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
