In a bizarre development, a dispute over a road crossing turned violent in Amritsar's Batala Road area on Thursday night. A man who runs a car wash business on Batala Road was attacked by 15 to 20 armed men. The man who was beaten by 15-20 men is named Amanveer Singh and he runs 'Aman Car Wash' on Batala Road.
Amanveer while talking to the media said, "I am from Batala Road. I run car wash business. A man brought 15-20 men here, and threw his weapon. But, then he snatched his weapon. I was wearing a gold chain in hand. He snatched my entire selling of the day i.e. Rs 50,000 as well as my gold chain. The man had complained about me in Corporation."
According to reports, the owner of Aman Car Wash and a nearby hotel had been arguing over the road for several days.
It was reported that the hotel owner had complained to the municipal corporation about a tent erected by Aman Car Wash, following which the administration took action to remove the illegal encroachment.
Amidst this dispute, the hotel owner and his associates arrived at the car wash late at night.
Amanveer has accused the opposite party of being envious from his business.
Police officer Mukhtiar Singh who reached the spot said, "There is an 'Aman Car Wash' at Batala road. There is a hotel ahead. They had argument during road crossing."
According to reports, written complaints have been received from both sides. The police are verifying these claims by examining nearby CCTV footage. Preliminary information suggests the incident may be related to road use and a previous dispute.
