What is a Supermoon?

A supermoon occurs when the moon reaches perigee, or its nearest point to our planet i.e. Earth, making it appear larger and brighter as compared to other days.

Since this Supermoon is taking place in the month of December, it is called 'Cold Moon' or Cold Supermoon.

Supermoons are not rare, typically appearing three or four times a year. However, three consecutive supermoons are uncommon. This year, the world had three Supermoons that were seen in October, November, and December.

Will Cold Supermoon be visible in Punjab?

The answer is yes. Cold Supermoon will be witnessed in all parts of India on December 4 and December 5. Reports suggest that a large and bright moon will appear in the eastern sky around 7 p.m. This will be the highest moon of the year, as the sun will be at its lowest. Due to its proximity to Earth, it will appear approximately 10% larger than a normal moon. If the sky is clear, this amazing sight will be visible even without a telescope.

On December 5 i.e. today, the celestial spectacle is expected to be even more divine. If there is no cloud in the sky, Cold Moon can visible during the evening or night hours in Punjab and other Indian states.
