Check: Big crimes in Jalandhar that are still unsolved

Police investigations continue as key accused in major Jalandhar crimes remain untraceable

Jalandhar has witnessed several serious criminal incidents in recent times and some of the most prominent ones still remain unresolved, raising concerns over law and order in the city.

Firing outside Vardaan Hospital

A firing incident was reported outside Dr. Varish's Vardaan IVF Center in Mota Singh Nagar area when unidentified bike-borne assailants wearing helmets fired around two to three rounds outside the hospital at around 10 PM before fleeing the scene.

Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information and initiated a probe. It was also established by the officials that the doctor had not received any extortion calls or threats prior to the incident.

CM Mann's strict action

Following the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also ordered strict administrative action and directed the suspension of Model Town ACP Paraminder Singh, who holds the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), along with the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) over alleged security lapses.

Second incident within 24 hours

The incident came within 24 hours of another firing case in the Santokhpura area, where nearly 10 bullets were reportedly fired outside a house. Authorities have stated that investigations are underway to identify the attackers and the firing case outside Vardaan Hospital remains unresolved.

Lucky Oberoi murder case

Another major crime that took place in the city which remains partially unresolved is the murder of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satwinderpal Singh alias Lucky Oberoi, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants on a white Activa at the Gurudwara Singh Sabha parking in Model Town, Jalandhar.

Lucky’s servant arrested

During the investigation, Amritsar Rural Police arrested one of the accused, Shaminder Singh, a resident of Mithapur in Jalandhar. The arrest took place after a brief exchange of fire in the Khasa area of Amritsar. Police recovered a Beretta .30 bore pistol from his possession.

Main shooter still at large

However, the alleged shooter in the case, identified as Gurtaj Singh, still remains at large. Police teams from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Amritsar have been conducting continuous searches to apprehend him. According to reports, Gurtaj Singh was previously involved in another murder case on December 16, 2025, in which Abdul Mohammad was shot seven times in Hoshiarpur.

Police officials have stated that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to trace the remaining accused in the case.
