Former cricketer-turned-politician- Navjot SIngh Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu has sparked a political controversy by targeting her own party. Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu recently made a shocking claim that to become Chief Minister of Punjab from the Congress party you have to give Rs 500 crore in a suitcase. However, after a political backlash, Navjot Kaur took a U-turn saying that her statement was twisted.
On Monday, Navjot Kaur then again slammed Congress leadership in Punjab and made multiple claims. In an interview with News18 Punjabi, Navjot Sidhu's wife has alleged that several senior leaders in the Congress party are in collusion with the BJP and AAP.
She alleged that during Tarn Taran Byelection campaign- Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and LoP Pratap Bajwa deliberately remained silent about CM Mann.
She further alleged that Raja Warring also accepted Rs 5 crore from a councilor candidate. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Charanjit Channi, Sukhjinder Randhawa, and Pratap Singh Bajwa want to become Chief Minister and are working to destroy the Congress party.
To be precise, Navjot Kaur Sidhu alleged that around Rs 5 crore was taken from Congress candidate Karanbir Singh Burj for giving him the ticket in the Tarn Taran by-election, allegedly by Partap Bajwa and Raja Warring. She claimed that Burj ultimately paid a total of Rs 11 crore. She also added that she has call recordings and that several councillors are ready to give their statements.
In response, Congress candidate Karanbir Singh Burj rejected the allegations of paying money for his ticket, saying he “didn’t give a single rupee to the party.” Burj challenged the Sidhu couple to present proof and repeat their claims inside a Gurdwara Sahib adding that no one would lie in a sacred place.
Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa reacting Navjot Kaur Sidhu's Rs 500 crore cash for Punjab CM's post claims said, "It is unfortunate that she made this remark. She should first tell how much was paid for the post of PCC President..."
"She did not speak a word for 3.5 years while the Congress workers struggled in the state and started making these statements when elections are nearing... Why did she not campaign for Congress when Priyanka Gandhi went to the constituency of CM Bhagwant Mann? This was party indiscipline. Such people, and not anyone else in Punjab, pose a threat to the party."
