This decision is also an important step towards transparency - Nitin Kohli and Rajwinder Kaur Thiara took the decision, showing seriousness. Accordingly, no Objection Certificate (NOC) fee implemented with a 7.5% interest rate.

The Jalandhar Improvement Trust has announced major relief for allottees of Surya Enclave, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue, and Guru Gobind Singh Avenue.

The long-standing issues related to enhancement charges and non-construction fees have now been addressed with a people-centric approach.

After detailed consultations with Improvement Trust Chairperson Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, Nitin Kohli successfully advocated for a rational revision in the fee structure, offering long-overdue relief to hundreds of residents.

Behind this decision was the active role of Aam Aadmi Party's Jalandhar Central constituency in-charge and industrialist Nitin Kohli, who constantly raised this issue at the administrative level.

Key decisions taken by Jalandhar Improvement Trust

Enhancement charges will now carry interest only from 2021, removing the burden of retrospective penalties.

For the 94.5-acre scheme, a reduced 7.5% interest rate will be applied starting from 2021.

Non-construction charges will be collected based on government-notified reserve prices for 2021–2025, instead of older, inflated rates.

All government-sanctioned rebates and concessions will remain intact and applicable to eligible allottees.

Kohli had consistently raised these concerns with both the Punjab Government and the Improvement Trust, pressing for justice for affected plot owners.

In a recent meeting held with Chairperson Thiara and representatives of the housing societies, the matter was deliberated in detail before a formal resolution was passed.

Speaking on the development, Nitin Kohli said, “This is not just about financial relief, it’s about fairness and accountability. Residents were being penalized under outdated structures, and it was crucial to correct that. I thank the Trust Chairperson for responding with empathy and action.”
