Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur on Tuesday visited the house of the family members of 13-year-old victim. A 13-year-old girl's body was found in neighbour's bathroom in Paras Estate, situated near Leather Complex in Jalandhar West on Saturday night. It sparked a massive uproar as the police official who went inside the house to search for the body came out and said that the girl was not inside. However, later, the girl's body was found in the bathroom of the same house.
Addressing the media, CP Dhanpreet Kaur assured that a fair investigation is being carried out and a press conference will be held soon.
CP Dhanpreet Kaur said, "We will conduct a press conference on this case soon. We assured the victim's family members that the heinous crime that took place is being properly investigated. We will conclude its investigation as soon as possible. You all know that the accused has already been arrested."
On allegations of Police officials not carrying out their duty properly, CP Dhanpreet Kaur said, "We have already taken action against them. The victim's family members have a few more points."
For the unversed, after the family complained at police control room when the minor went missing, a team from Leather Complex chowki led by ASI Mangat Ram reached the locality. Residents informed officers that the girl had entered the neighbour’s house but never came out.
As a result, a Police team went inside the house but claimed that they did not find the girl. However, later, the victim's body was found in the same house, in the bathroom.
The Jalandhar police have suspended ASI Mangat Ram of the Leather Complex police chowki for dereliction of duty. He was in charge of the team that made the first visit to the victim’s house.
