The horrific crime in Jalandhar West has stunned entire Punjab. A 13-year-old minor was strangled to death by her friend's father in Jalandhar West area on Saturday. The accused identified as Harminder Singh Happy has been arrested under relevant charges including POCSO. The incident led to outrage among local residents.
ADCP Akarshi Jain who reached the spot along with Jalandhar SP Harinder Singh Gill was seen trying to console the victim's mother. Now, a video of ADCP Akarshi Jain trying to console the victim's mother is also going viral.
The victim's mother in the video can be heard crying continuously and saying, "My daughter, who was as precious as gold, is no more (Meri Sone Warge Beti Nahi Rahi)."
In response, ADCP Akarshi Jain comforts the victim's mother and assured that a strict investigation will be carried out.
"'I am a woman myself, and I understand your pain. I stand with you, and we all stand with you. The way he acted with such brutality, we will conduct the investigation with the same level of strictness," said ADCP Jain.
The body of a 13-year-old girl was found in a neighbor's bathroom in the Jalandhar West area. CCTV footage of the girl going to the accused's house was also found. The girl was on her way to the accused's house around 4 p.m. After that, she did not come out. The family began searching for her but she was not found.
When the police was informed, a team of West police station reached there without a lady constable. They searched the house of the accused and said that there was nothing inside. When people got suspicious, a man got the gate opened around 11 pm and searched again, in which the girl was found lying in the bathroom. The uproar continued from 11 pm on Saturday night till 5 am on Sunday.
As per reports, Happy told the police that the girl used to come to play with her mother along with her (Happy's daughter) younger daughter. The accused further stated that on the day of the incident, his wife and younger daughter had gone to Ludhiana to visit his elder daughter. When the minor came to play with his daughter, he opened the gate and invited her inside.
The accused admitted that he was alone at home. As soon as the girl entered his house and asked about his younger daughter, he told her that she was not home. Seeing the girl, Happy allegedly said that his intentions turned bad. When she tried to escape, he grabbed her. The girl tried to escape and scream, but Happy gagged her.
