DGP Gaurav Yadav inaugurates new ANTF building in Jalandhar, announces tech upgrade

During the inauguration, the DGP disclosed that the building was constructed at the cost of Rs1.60 crore.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Jalandhar Range, at Police Lines, Jalandhar toady (Thursday). During the inauguration, the DGP stated that the building was constructed at the cost of Rs1.60 crore and expressed gratitude to the ADGP’s team. He says that this was the second such building of its kind to be inaugurated this year.

A building in Ludhiana, amounting to Rs 3 crore, will be completed within four to five months, while a new building is also being constructed in Ferozepur as well. Talking further the DGP says that the ANTF is being upgraded annually at the cost of Rs 10 to 12 crore. He assured that the teams will be provided with upgraded vehicles. He also adds that tools costing Rs 2.5 crore were also provided that can detect 500 types of drugs.

The DGP adds that his team has made 10,000 arrests since January 20 and details that during this period, some people were released after a through investigation took place. He discusses that Punjab is a border state and every year around 700 murders take place within the boundaries of the state. He also claims that after 'Operation Sindoor', a lot of weapons have been recovered through the entry drone systems after which the police has successfully put a check on drugs and weapon smuggling.
