Another young life in Gurdaspur has been lost due to drugs. An 18-year-old boy, resident of Ward No. 2 Christian Mohalla of Fatehgarh Churian, has died due to drug overdose. The devastating news has left the family members of the deceased shattered and grieving. The deceased youth’s mother Pammi, sister Renu, and father Manohari Masih, who all are residents of Christian Mohalla have told that the young boy has passed away due to an alleged drug overdose and lack of timely treatment.
The family members of the deceased, talking further about the incident say that the family has three sons and all three of them including Vishal Masih were drug addicts. Vishal’s health ultimately deteriorated due to excessive drug abuse. The family could not get him treated due to lack of funds. However, the residents of the locality had collected some money and admitted him to a nearby hospital for treatment but unfortunately, he could not be saved as it was too late by then.
The grieving family now demands the arrest of big drug smugglers who openly sell drugs and ruin the life of youngsters in Punjab. The family has demanded a strict action on these big drug lords. The residents of the locality have also raised their demand for a drug de-addiction centre to be opened in Fatehgarh Churian so that youths can be saved from the swamp of drugs.
Fatehgarh Sahib Churian SHO Surinderpal Singh talking about the case says that the family members of the deceased youth have not given any information yet, however he has assured that the drug dealers in Fatehgarh Churian would not be spared at any cost.
