Amritsar Rural Police have registered FIR No. 91/2026 at Majitha Police Station against senior Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia and several others entities in connection with an alleged incident that took place inside police station on May 31 and according to FIR the incident occurred somewhere around 11:30 AM when police officials were questioning an accused person identified as Jobanpreet Singh who was in police custody.
The FIR states that ASI Harpal Singh was conducting interrogation at the time and as per police complaint Bikram Singh Majithia along with several named associates and more than 50 supporters allegedly arrived at Majitha Police Station during the interrogation.
The FIR claims that the group entered the police station premises without permission and began looking for accused who was being questioned by police.
The police have alleged that despite being stopped by officers and staff present at station the group continued moving through different rooms and offices within police station complex and states that this created tension inside police station and affected normal functioning of official work.
According to the complaint the group eventually reached the room where Jobanpreet Singh was being interrogated and it further alleges that one person accompanying the group took out a pistol and displayed it in front of police personnel.
The police claim that this was done to intimidate officials present at the scene.
FIR also alleges that during the incident a case file kept on a table was picked up and some documents related to the case were torn while the police have also further claimed that an attempt was made to free Jobanpreet Singh from police custody.
According to FIR senior police officers including the Station House Officer (SHO) and DSP of Majitha reached the spot and intervened and the police state that they managed to bring the situation under control and prevented accused from being taken away from custody.
Based on these allegations police have registered a case under multiple sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act.
FIR includes Section 132 related to obstructing a public servant from performing official duty, Section 221 related to disobedience of a lawful order, Section 304, Section 62 related to conspiracy or collective responsibility, Section 263 related to breach of peace, Section 241, Section 351(2) related to criminal intimidation, Section 190 related to unlawful assembly and Section 191(3) related to rioting.
In addition Sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act have also been included in the case and these sections relate to allegations concerning possession and use of weapons.
The FIR was registered at 1:40 AM on June 1, 2026 at Majitha Police Station in Amritsar Rural district and according to the record police received information about the incident at 12:55 AM on June 1.
The case has been registered on the basis of a written complaint.
The allegations mentioned in the FIR are claims made by police in the case and further investigation is underway and the matter will proceed according to legal process.
