Advocate on his way to court shot inside his car in Amritsar's Jandiala Guru by unidentified gunmen

Firing at Lakhwinder Singh took place when he was en route to Amritsar Court from his residence.

In a bizarre development, unidentified gunmen on Monday open fired on local Advocate Lakhwinder Singh in Amritsar's Jandiala Guru.

Firing at Lakhwinder Singh took place when he was en route to Amritsar Court from his residence.

According to initial reports, three unidentified men ambushed Lakhwinder Singh's car and fired multiple rounds indiscriminately. The advocate sustained three bullet injuries on his arm and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Amritsar, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is stated to be critical but stable.

The victim’s brother, a former sarpanch of Jandiala Guru, revealed that Lakhwinder had left early due to a heavy court schedule. "The assailants fired at close range and fled the scene. After being shot, his car crashed into shuttered shops,” he told reporters.

Speaking to the media, Punjab Cabinet Minister and Jandiala MLA Harbhajan Singh ETO condemned the attack, calling it “deeply unfortunate and shameful.”

He assured the public and the victim’s family that the government stands firmly with them and that the culprits will be brought to justice soon.

Pradeep Saini, President of the Amritsar Bar Association, also expressed solidarity, stating, “We will not let this act of terror go unanswered. The legal community is united in demanding justice.”

As per reports, the local Police have launched an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the attackers. No motive has been confirmed yet. Authorities stated that initial findings rule out personal enmity or extortion as reasons behind the attack.
