‘Gangsters te Vaar’: Major police action in Jalandhar, 70 suspects rounded up

CP Dhanpreet Kaur says the action was taken to align with the vision of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to eradicate gangsterism from Punjab.

The Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a campaign against gangsters: ‘Gangsters te Vaar’ on Tuesday. Acting upon this campaign the police under the leadership of Jalandhar Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, arrested 70 suspects. The operation was conducted in Garha area of Jalandhar today.

Sharing details about the incident, CP Dhanpreet Kaur says that aligning with the vision of the Chief Minister to eradicate gangsterism from the state, 50 members of various gangs were rounded up yesterday and out of these 15 were taken into custody and sent to jail.    

Following up, another operation was conducted in Garha today. The operation led by ADCP-rank officer, involved 200 police personnel. Raids were conducted at various locations, and during these raids 70 individuals were rounded up. As per reports, further action will be taken against them after through questioning.

‘Gangsters te Vaar’: a fight against gangsterism 

It is noteworthy that yesterday, DGP Gaurav Yadav, while addressing a press conference said that the after the successful effort of the police to fight the drug menace now this campaign has been launched to fight gangsters. As per the information, this launch will target gangsters with the utilization of modern technology. A helpline number (9394 693 946) has also been issued so that anyone can provide information related to gangsters or their associates. He urged the people of Punjab to support the fight against gangsters just as they supported the war on drugs.
