A sacrilege case is being reported at Sri Gurdwara Sahib in Mahal village of Jalandhar district. As per reports, the incident took place on Tuesday at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar where reportedly six holy angs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were desecrated.  

According to the available information so far, an unidentified person tore and scattered six holy angs Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji inside the premises of Gurdwara Sahib. The devotees learned about the desecration when they arrived at the gurdwara for paying obeisance. The devotes noticed the desecration and police was informed. The police team later reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter.

As per reports, the CCTV cameras installed inside the Gurdwara premises were not functional at the time of the incident. This has made the probe a bit challenging to identify the accused. The locals inform the police that a dispute had taken place among two groups a few days ago. As of now, it is being looked into as a possible angle.

While briefing the media about the incident, DSP Phillaur Bharat Masih says that, “no accused will be be spared in this matter and an investigation is underway into the matter from all possible angles.” He further affirms that the identity of the culprit has been established, and a case has been registered. The officer has assured that further action will be taken as per the law.
