Jalandhar has become the second city of Punjab to implement E-Challan system. E-Challan system in Jalandhar was operationalised at 4 chowks of the city on October 12 after weeks of trial runs following its September 29 inauguration. The city’s Rs 42-crore Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) has become operational at PAP Chowk, BSF Chowk, BMC Chowk and Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, while efforts to expand it to other chowks across the city continue.

As per information received, 200 E-Challans on average are being issued at these chowks per day. Therefore, this update is important for commuters traveling through or to Jalandhar. Anyone who will violate traffic rules on these roads will now start receiving online challans.

Now, let's understand about chowks where E-Challan systems have been operationalised-

PAP Chowk is among the most important chowks that is like the gateway to the city of Jalandhar. People coming from Ludhiana, Delhi, or Amritsar, they have to pass through PAP Chowk as it situated on the National Highway. Those coming from Jammu to Jalandhar City, or from Amritsar to Jalandhar City, must pass through PAP Chowk.

If coming from Delhi to Ludhiana, you will also have to go through PAP Chowk.

BSF Chowk - It is very similar to PAP. Those going towards the Jalandhar bus stand or the city will have to pass through this Chowk.

BMC Chowk - For those who want to go to some major hospitals, auto market, administration, corporation, or main market, this is the third important chowk of the city.

Guru Nanak Mission Chowk - It is also important for those coming from Kapurthala. It connects the main markets of the city like Jyoti Chowk, Model Town, and many other main markets.
