Holiday announced in Jalandhar schools and colleges after 12 pm on October 6

DC Dr. Himanshu Agarwal made announcement in view of Bhagwan Valmiki Maharaj’s Pargat Diwas and the grand procession (Shobha Yatra).

In a major development, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Saturday announced holidays in all schools and colleges after half-day on October 6.

DC Dr. Himanshu Agarwal announced that in view of Bhagwan Valmiki Maharaj’s Pargat Diwas and the grand procession (Shobha Yatra) being organized in Jalandhar city, schools, colleges, and ITIs (both government and private) located within the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation limits will remain closed after 12 PM on October 6.

This decision has been made keeping in mind the sentiments and convenience of the public during the celebrations.

Meat and liquor sale also banned in Jalandhar

Jalandhar DC Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Friday announced ban on sale of meat and liquor in the district in areas where Shobha Yatra will pass. Exercising his power under Section 163 of the IPC, 2023, DC Himanshu Aggarwal announced two-days ban on sale of liquor and meat on October 6 and 7.

The order will apply to areas along the procession routes as well as around venues where religious congregations related to the Prakash Utsav are scheduled to take place.
