The month of September has bought some relief to the flood crises in Punjab. Punjab has witnessed the worst and the most disastrous monsoon in last 37 years.
Although there is no rainfall in the recent days but according to fresh forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and other weather agencies, light to moderate rain is expected in most parts of Punjab during the next week.
Light rain is most likely to be experienced during 12th to 18th September 2025 in all the districts of Punjab with normal to subnormal rainfall in parts. The temperature would be 28°C to 34°C, i.e., a shade below normal for the time being. The night temperatures would range from 18°C to 24°C for the state.
Partly cloudy will be the sky for the next two days. Today i.e. Thursday the weather will be partly sunny and humid. Similarly on Friday and Saturday the sky will be partly cloudy with humid weather.
On Sunday the weather will be humid and coupled with storms at few places.
From next week onwards rains are going to return to Punjab.
Total September rainfall should be moderate with approximately 14 rainy days of the month contributing approximately 76 millimeters of rain. Although it will rain, most days should be sunny or mostly cloudy, offering some relief from the late summer heat that has a current average of 35°C.
Local weather forecast says that scattered showers are likely, and individuals are requested to prepare for patchy rains, especially in northern and central Punjab.
As a whole, heavy or persistent rain is not going to occur, but moderate rain and sporadic showers are coming Punjab's way in the near future, and these may infuse much-needed moisture into the crops of the region and reduce the heat to some extent.
