Jalandhar DC Himanshu Aggarwal and AAP's Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli hold screening of Sitaare Zameen Par for special children

Nitin Kohli said the film is not just entertainment, but an important lesson in compassion and inclusion.

In a heart-touching initiative aimed at empowering children with special needs, the Jalandhar District Administration organized a special screening of the Bollywood film Sitaare Zameen Par for 125 special children at PVR Cinemas.

The special children included 125 children from Red Cross School Jalandhar, Chanan Vocational and Skill Training Center Jalandhar and Vajra Asha School Jalandhar Cantt.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal and AAP's Jalandhar Central Halka In-Charge Nitin Kohli graced the occasion, alongside IAS Assistant Commissioner Mukilan R, SDM Nakodar Lal Biswas, and other officials.

Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that just like all other children, children with special needs possess unique talents. He said the film was shown not only for their entertainment but also to inspire and enhance their awareness and self-belief.

Dr. Aggarwal also mentioned the children’s active participation in major events like Independence Day and Republic Day, where they perform cultural programs and engage in sports activities.

Nitin Kohli said the film is not just entertainment, but an important lesson in compassion and inclusion. “Sitare Zameen Par teaches us that every child is unique, capable, and worthy of love and support. It encourages children to trust their own strengths and reminds society to celebrate differences rather than isolate them,” he said.

Kohli also remarked that the film is powerful in transforming perspectives. “It will make you smile, cry, and most importantly, think. It teaches us that normal is subjective, what may be ordinary for one child might be extraordinary for another. These children are living their own version of normal, and it’s up to us to understand and support them.”

Both the DC and Kohli agreed that such initiatives play a key role in fostering inclusivity and promoting mental well-being among children, particularly those with special needs. The event concluded with smiles, applause, and a renewed sense of motivation for the young audience.
