In a major development, the Bar Association has launched a protest against the police administration in the court. The Bar Association has declared a no-work day on September 23. The protest is being held in response to the police's alleged negligence and bias against Advocate Mandeep Sachdeva.
The Bar Association has described the police's behavior as objectionable and insensitive.
Aditya Jain, President of the Bar Association, Jalandhar, stated that extortion demands were made against his fellow lawyer, Mandeep Singh Sachdeva.
The accused also threatened to harm the lawyer's family. The police filed an FIR in this case, but did not fully list the charges. "We set a trap and asked the accused to come to collect the money," he said. A man named Sam from Sheikhan Bazar came to collect the money.
The CIA staff of the police had set a trap and apprehended the man. However, the police released him shortly after, claiming he was a victim.
Jain further said, "If someone comes to collect extortion money, how can he be innocent?"
However, the police responded that they were investigating and the man was innocent.
The police sent the man home without taking any action. Jain accused Sam of using offensive language against the lawyer's family members and posting obscene content from various social media accounts.
When they spoke to the police about this, the content was removed.
Jain stated, "The case should be investigated by central agencies so that appropriate action can be taken. The accused must have amassed a significant amount of money by doing this for the past one and a half to two years. We are in discussions with the police. We demand that the appropriate sections be applied in the case and that the central agencies investigate the matter so that the matter can be cleared."
