A famous lawyer of Jalandhar, Mandeep Singh Sachdeva recently received death threats on social media. Extortion was also demanded from Advocate Mandeep Singh Sachdeva in the name of a Canada-based gangster.
Mandeep Singh Sachdeva accepted to give the extortion money, however, in the meantime, he also informed the Police regarding this. Hence, a CIA staff laid a trap and sat in civil dress near the Advocate. As soon as a man arrived to collect the ransom cash, the Police nabbed him.
Now, an FIR copy filed on the complaint of advocate Mandeep Singh Sachdeva has been accessed.
Mandeep Singh Sachdeva's complaint sought immediate registration of FIR against accused named- Jatinder Singh aka Sabi, resident of Village Mand, Jalandhar, Sandeep Singh aka Sunny, a Nakodar resident currently based in Canada, who allegedly runs the Facebook and Instagram page "Pind-Abbotsford.Wale" and a third person referred to as 'Jatt', said to be sent to collect extortion money.
The extortion threat received by Mandeep Singh Sachdeva has a background to a different and old case.
Advocate Sachdeva referred to his professional role in the high-profile 2008 Nurmahal kidnapping case, where a Jalandhar City Councillor, Sukhmeet Singh was abducted.
The trial court convicted all accused in 2011. In 2014, their appeal was dismissed by the Punjab & Haryana High Court, and later upheld by the Supreme Court in 2016.
One of the convicted men was Jatinder Singh alias Sabi. Advocate Mandeep Singh Sachdeva had represented Sabi before the Sessions Court and later the High Court after being engaged by Sabi’s brother, Joginder Mand, who paid him a professional fee of Rs 80,000.
As per the FIR, Mandeep Singh Sachdeva on September 12 received a Facebook messenger text from the account “Pind-Abbotsford.Wale” carrying the photograph of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
The sender allegedly demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from Mandeep Singh Sachdeva. The sender further threatened to hold a press conference and launch a defamatory campaign against him on social media if the money was not paid.
In another chat, the sender identified as Sandeep Singh aka Sunny claimed that since Advocate Sachdeva’s client had lost the kidnapping case years earlier, the fee paid at that time should be refunded with interest.
Sunny further threatened to publicly malign Sachdeva's image and circulate personal photographs of his family members.
Sachdeva stated that Sunny admitted he was based in Canada and declared he had no fear of Indian law enforcement.
Sachdeva in his complaint further alleged that Sunny along with Sabi threatened to send another man identified only as “Jatt” to personally collect the money.
An FIR has been registered at Navi Baradari Police Station in Jalandhar under Sections of BNS 2023- 308(2)- extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt, and Section 62.
