Fresh details have emerged in the Jalandhar lecturer murder case involving Neha, with the husband of Satpal Kaur, who is alleged to have been in a relationship with Umang Bassi, making several claims about the couple’s relationship and events that preceded the police case.
Vikas Sharma, 36, who resides in Mehar Enclave, Jalandhar, stated in his complaint that he works in Hyderabad and usually lives away from his wife and their nine-year-old daughter and according to his complaint, he became suspicious of his wife’s conduct after receiving information from people in the locality.
Vikas said he returned to Jalandhar unexpectedly from Hyderabad on February 3, 2026 and he alleged that when Satpal Kaur saw him, she became nervous and attempted to hide her mobile phone.
According to him, when he tried to check the phone, an argument followed and he also alleged that Satpal bit him on the arm before locking herself inside the bathroom.
The dispute reportedly escalated, following which the PCR control room was contacted and neighbours gathered at the house. Vikas stated that Satpal subsequently left the house.
According to the complaint, Vikas later went to his daughter’s school to pick her up and found Satpal there with Umang Bassi and he alleged that when he questioned Umang about his presence with his wife, a scuffle broke out between the two men.
A medical examination of Vikas was subsequently conducted at Civil Hospital, Jalandhar and according to the police account, the medical legal report recorded three injury marks on his body.
Investigating Officer AC Balwinder Pal stated that, based on Vikas’s statement and the medical report, a case was registered against Satpal Kaur and Umang Bassi under Section 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused were subsequently remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
Vikas further stated that his suspicion about his wife’s relationship increased after he examined her mobile phone, and he claimed that he recovered around 206 pages of chat records involving Satpal and Umang.
According to Vikas, the conversations indicated that the relationship between the two had become close and that they were discussing their future together, and he alleged that the chats also contained discussions about their respective daughters and plans to bring the children together.
Vikas claimed that the conversations showed discussions about how the two daughters could develop a bond and eventually be told about the relationship between the adults and he also alleged that the relationship had continued for a considerable period and that Umang frequently visited the house when he was away.
Vikas also shared photographs of items that he said were recovered from his wife’s room and wardrobe, and according to his claims, a pregnancy test kit was found in the room.
He stated that the kit had been used and showed a negative result.
He further claimed that two packets of condoms were found inside the wardrobe. Vikas also alleged that stamina-boosting capsules and cotton swabs were recovered.
He said he suspected that some of the cotton swabs were stained with semen.
Vikas also claimed that several revealing dresses were found in the wardrobe and alleged that his wife wore them when meeting Umang.
These claims have been made by Vikas in connection with his allegations regarding the relationship.
He further alleged that Satpal and Umang would meet at night when he was away from home. Vikas said neighbours had also seen Umang visiting the house on several occasions.
Vikas claimed that the relationship was not limited to meetings and conversations but that Satpal and Umang were also discussing a future together, according to him, the 206-page chat record contained conversations about their lives after separating from their existing spouses and about keeping their daughters together.
Vikas alleged that the chats showed discussions about how the children would be introduced to and adjusted to the relationship between the two adults, he also alleged that his wife had been involved in a plan to separate his daughter from him.
These claims, according to Vikas, were based on the conversations he said he found on her phone.
Vikas stated that he and Satpal had married around 11 years ago after being in a relationship, and he said that Satpal belongs to a Sikh family, while he comes from a Brahmin family and that their families had opposed their relationship.
According to Vikas, the two eventually left home and got married against their families’ wishes.
He has now alleged that after years of marriage, he discovered his wife’s relationship with Umang, he described the situation as a betrayal after the couple had initially married for love.
Vikas also made claims about Satpal’s property holdings, and according to his statement, Satpal owns substantial property, including property on the highway in Kartarpur, he further claimed that her family owns several shops near Dana Mandi.
Vikas stated that an Aam Aadmi Party office operates from these shops, however, he also said that he did not know whether the premises had been rented to the party or were being used under some other arrangement.
He also claimed that a house in Jalandhar, which he said was worth around Rs 1 crore, had previously been taken over by his wife.
The complaint referred to by police was filed at Division 7 Police Station in Jalandhar on February 16, 2026, at around 12:18 pm and in the complaint, Vikas described the events of February 3 and his confrontation with Satpal and Umang. He also referred to the injuries he allegedly suffered during the dispute.
Following the medical examination, police registered the case under Section 115(2) of the BNS. The accused were sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
The allegations regarding the relationship, the contents of the chats, the items allegedly recovered from the room and the alleged plans involving the children are based on statements and claims made by Vikas Sharma. The police case mentioned in the complaint relates to the alleged physical confrontation and injuries.
Further investigation will determine the status and evidentiary value of the other allegations.
