In an early morning operation on Friday a team from Fazilka Police conducted a raid in Model Town, a posh area of the city and took a private school owner into custody in connection with a fraud case. According to information the police team reached the residence of the school owner around 5:00 AM and took him along to Fazilka for questioning and the action is linked to an FIR registered in Jalalabad in Fazilka district.
Officials said that the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police had already been informed about the operation in advance as per the procedure.
Preliminary details suggest that the case involves serious allegations of fraud and financial irregularities against the school owner and the raid and detention were carried out as part of the ongoing investigation into this case. Police have not yet disclosed the exact amount involved in the alleged fraud and it is also not clear at this stage whether the case is related to a land deal or any business transactions connected to the school.
The operation was carried out in a highly confidential manner and local residents and media persons came to know about the development only after the police team had left the area. Further investigation is underway, and more details are expected once the police complete initial questioning.
