In a massive development, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur on Tuesday announced new closing time of restaurants, clubs, and other licensed food establishments.
Jalandhar CP made announcement under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023, for the purpose of maintaining law and order.
The order states that restaurants, clubs and other such licensed eating places will have to be shut down by 12 midnight.
No restaurant, club or other any ordering of food, beverages etc. in licensed eating places after 11:30 pm will not be taken nor will any new customers be allowed into restaurants, clubs or other after 11:30 pm.
Permission will be given to enter licensed eating places. The premises adjacent to liquor shops will be completely closed at 12 o'clock in the night or as per the terms of the license.
In the orders, all the institutions have to limit the noise level to 10 dB.
Additionally, all sound-producing sources, including DJs, live orchestras, singers, etc., must be switched off or their volume reduced by 10:00 PM.
Any sound produced inside any building or campus after 10 pm will be prohibited within the boundary wall. The sound should not be heard outside.
In case of vehicles with music system, it should be ensured that the sound of the music system is not limited during the day.

This order will remain in force till November 7, 2025.
The order related to the closing time of restaurants and clubs in Jalandhar is significant because last month a brawl broke out between relatives of two influential families of Jalandhar late at night in a restaurant.
Last month, clash between Brune & Bareskin owners and Eastwood Village owner's son, nephew became the talking point of Jalandhar. The clash took place on August 3 late at night around 2:30 am in a restaurant cum bar in Guru Nanak Mission Chowk.
Manas Malhotra, son of Tarun Malhotra filed an FIR against Brune & Bareskin owners Tabby Bhatia, Sabby Bhatia and 2 other individuals.
On the complaint of Tarun Malhotra, Jalandhar Police had lodged a complaint against Tabby Bhatia and 3 others under various sections.
In the end, the dispute between high-profile families of Jalandhar- Eastwood Village Owners and Brune & Bareskin owners was resolved.
The matter was settled with the significant involvement of Aam Aadmi Party’s General Secretary Deepak Bali. Industrialist Sheetal Vij was also present during the resolution.
As per reports, Tabby Bhatia had apologized for the the incident that took place late at night in the restaurant.
