Long weekend in June? Check when Punjab will get three consecutive holidays

Punjab to enjoy three-day break as Kabir Jayanti creates long weekend in late June 2026

People in Punjab can look forward to a three day long weekend towards the end of June 2026 due to a combination of a weekly off and a government holiday and the long weekend will begin on Saturday, June 27 which is fourth Saturday of the month and it will be followed by Sunday, June 28 which is regular weekly holiday then on Monday, June 29 it has been declared a gazetted public holiday in Punjab on the occasion of Kabir Jayanti.

Punjab govt’s announcement 

According to Punjab Government's official holiday calendar issued by Personnel Department (Personnel Policy-3 Branch) June 29 has already been listed as a gazetted holiday and the holiday notification was issued in advance as part of state's annual holiday schedule.

All govt institues to remain closed

As a result all government offices, boards, corporations and public sector organisations across Punjab will remain closed on Monday, June 29 and educational institutions under state government's jurisdiction will also observe the holiday. Government and private schools and colleges across state are expected to remain closed on the day as well and the holiday will provide many employees and students with three consecutive days off from June 27 to June 29.

Kabir Jayanti on June 29

Kabir Jayanti is observed to mark birth anniversary of Sant Kabir who was a 15th-century poet and saint whose teachings continue to influence millions of people and the occasion is recognized as a public holiday in Punjab and several other parts of country. Authorities have clarified that while regular government services and offices will remain closed during the holiday essential services will continue to function as per standard arrangements and emergency and critical services are expected to operate normally to ensure that public does not face inconvenience.

Three day off

So with this the fourth Saturday, Sunday and Kabir Jayanti holiday falling one after another the end of June will bring a three day break for many people across Punjab.
