Mann Government revives 3,000 bus routes, creates jobs for over 10,000 rural youth in Punjab

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has emphasized that the scheme aims to make youth job providers rather than job seekers.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has launched a historic initiative to revive 3,000 defunct bus routes, opening doors to self-employment for more than 10,000 youth and improving rural connectivity across the state.

This ambitious project is not merely a transportation plan, but a step toward economic empowerment and prosperity for Punjab’s youth and rural communities.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has emphasized that the scheme aims to make youth job providers rather than job seekers. Each of the 3,000 buses operating on the revived routes will employ at least three individuals, directly benefiting over 10,000 young people.

To support this, the government has set up a mechanism for easy and quick loans to help youth purchase new buses, enabling them to start their own transport businesses and contribute to Punjab’s economic growth.

Transport Minister highlighted that this initiative is being implemented on the ground, saying, “These permits are not just pieces of paper, but passports to self-reliance for our unemployed youth. We are committed to taking Punjab forward.”

The scheme has a dual impact: massive employment generation and improved rural connectivity. Buses will primarily operate on rural link roads and district routes, bridging the gap between villages and cities. Better transport facilities are bringing relief to farmers, labourers, students, and the general public in their daily commute.

So far, the Transport Department has issued 154 Stage Carriage Permits under Section 5 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Clause 3(E) of the state-approved transport scheme, demonstrating the government’s legal and administrative readiness to implement the plan effectively.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Every bus is a door of employment for one family. The government is giving the youth not just opportunities, but also confidence.” This reflects the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and public welfare.

While Delhi struggles with declining public transport and long wait times, Punjab’s Aam Aadmi Party government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has successfully restored 3,000 bus routes, providing affordable and accessible transport to the public and proving that clear intentions lead to real development.
