A major tragedy was averted at Hansraj Stadium in Jalandhar after a player suffered a heart attack while playing badminton and the incident took place during a match when Deepak Pujara suddenly collapsed on court after suffering a cardiac arrest.
According to information received two doctors: Dr. Nitish Garg and Dr. Piyush Sharma were also present at the stadium at that moment and were playing badminton at the time of the incident and as soon as they noticed that Deepak had collapsed they immediately rushed to help him.
The doctors quickly instructed support staff to bring medical kit and other emergency equipment and without wasting any time they started giving emergency treatment to Deepak right on that very badminton court before official medical team arrived.
When medical team reached stadium the doctors continued assisting in the treatment and a video of the incident has also surfaced showing the doctors and medical staff providing medical care at the stadium itself.
The video reportedly shows Dr. Nitish Garg immediately performing CPR on player after he collapsed and as Deepak's condition became critical Dr. Garg also administered a life-saving electric shock as part of emergency treatment.
Their quick response helped revive the player and prevented the situation from becoming more serious.
After providing first aid the doctors arranged for an ambulance and ensured that Deepak was shifted to a hospital for further treatment and medical care and the timely action of Dr. Nitish Garg, Dr. Piyush Sharma, medical team and support staff played a crucial role in saving the player's life and their presence of mind and quick response helped prevent a major tragedy at the stadium.
