A drone was found in the playground of a government school in Haripur village near Adampur after it reportedly crashed while children were playing there and the incident created concern among local residents following which police and security agencies began an investigation.
According to village Sarpanch Nirmal Ram the incident took place on Tuesday evening and talking about the same he said several children were playing in the school grounds when a drone suddenly came down and crashed near them following which the children picked up the device and informed village elders who then reported the matter to Adampur police station.
As soon as information about drone was received police administration reached the spot where DSP Rajiv Kumar along with his team inspected the area and took the said drone into custody. Police have started an investigation to determine where the drone came from and for what purpose it was being used.
The incident initially caused fear among villagers and residents said they were worried because they did not know what the drone contained or who owned it and since it fell close to children villagers feared that a serious mishap could have occurred.
Sarpanch and other villagers have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and they have also urged the authorities to identify the owner of the drone and determine its origin.
Security agencies are also carrying out a technical examination of the drone and officials are trying to gather information about its source, ownership and purpose and according to police the device is currently being examined carefully and all possible angles are being looked into.
DSP Rajiv Kumar said that information about the drone crash was received on Tuesday following which police officials immediately reached the location and began their inquiry and he also appealed to the public not to panic and said that the matter is being investigated seriously.
Police officials said clear details about the drone and its origin will emerge only after the investigation and technical examination are completed and as a precaution security arrangements in the area have also been strengthened following the incident and along with this authorities have assured residents that the situation is under control and that all necessary steps are being taken to find out complete facts behind the drone crash.
