PWC Chief meets Jalandhar West victim's family, raises concern over accused being a school driver

After meeting the deceased victim's family, Punjab Women's Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill assured that the case will be fast-tracked once reports come.

Punjab Women's Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill along with Child Commission Chairperson visited Jalandhar to meet the family of 13-year-old girl who was murdered on Saturday. For those who are unaware, a 13-year-old girl's body was found in neighbour's bathroom in Paras Estate, situated near Leather Complex in Jalandhar West on Saturday night.

Ever since then the case has been the talk of the town with people uniting and demanding justice for the victim and her family.

After meeting the deceased victim's family, Punjab Women's Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill addressed the media saying that the family members have put forward some demands like the case should be on fast-tracked, and they should not be left alone until the case reach to its conclusion. Gull further spoke on suspended ASI Mangat Ram.

"The incident that has taken place is extremely tragic. What we are feeling right now cannot even be expressed in words. That mother who was crying with her head resting on someone’s shoulder, try to understand her pain. Every morning she prepared her daughter and sent her to school. Then one day, she had to bid farewell to the same daughter by applying mehndi on her lifeless hands. There can be no greater sorrow than this," said Raj Lali Gill.

PWC Chief Raj Lali Gill further said, "Today, we came here. Chairman of Child Commission are with us. We met the family and gathered all the facts about what actually happened. After taking all the facts from them, we are now going to meet the Commissioner. Whatever charges need to be applied and whoever is responsible, no one will be spared."

PWC Chief on ASI Mangat Ram

Responding to media queries over demand of dismissal of ASI Mangat Ram, Gill said-

"I absolutely believe that in a small four-marla house, it is impossible that the police did not come to know what was happening. We have gathered all these facts, and that is why we have come here today. And that is why we will meet the Commissioner and ask all these questions."

What are the demands made by Jalandhar West victim's family members?

Gill said, "The victim's family has demanded that this case should be resolved as quickly as possible. This case should be put on fast track. And they have also demanded that they should not be left alone until this case is over. So, I assured them that both the Women's Commission and the Child Commission will stand with them till the end of the case. All reports like forensic and post-mortem will come in the next four to six days. After that, a charge sheet should be prepared, so it will definitely be fast-tracked."

PWC Chief on accused Rimpy being driver of a school van

Gill further express her concern amid claims that Rimpy (the accused) was a school van driver. "We have also heard that the accused has a past criminal record and that he did not behave appropriately even with his own daughter. The police will verify this as well. Moreover, the fact that he was driving a school van raises serious questions. How safe was it? Where did the system fail? The police will investigate these aspects too."
