

Residents of Jalandhar on Tuesday evening took out a candle march in solidarity with the deceased minor's family. As per reports, a candle march was held in Basti area of Jalandhar. During the march, people demanded capital punishment for the accused who murdered 13-year-old girl in Jalandhar West area. The accused has been booked under murder as well as POCSO charges.
One of the men in candle march also demanded that justice should be delivered swiftly.
For the unversed, a court in Jalandhar on Tuesday sent Harminder Singh alias Rimpy on 9-days police remand. ADCP-2 Harinder Singh Gill addressed the media and informed that the Police will strictly carry out investigation and question the accused on how did he carry out the crime.
Harinder Singh Gill further informed that the dismissal of ASI Mangat Ram is also under consideration. As of now, Mangat Ram has been suspended and has been sent to lines.
ADCP-2 Harinder Singh Gill said, "Inquiry will be carried out strictly and whatever development comes up will be shared in due course of time. We have taken him on remand and we will try to come out with details including how he murdered the victim. We will try to find out if there is anything he used to carry out the crime."
On demands of trial to be conducted in fast-track manner, ADCP Gill further said-
"The case will be fast-tracked only after we present our challan in the court. Once we file our challan, then we will file an application requesting to conduct the trial of the case in a fast-tracked manner."
