The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday carried out search operations at the residence and other properties of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal in Jalandhar who had recently replaced Raghav Chadha as the party’s new Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha.
Mittal is also the founder and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University and became a Rajya Sabha MP in 2022.
Meanwhile Saurabh Bharadwaj who is the President of AAP’s Delhi unit and former minister has made alleged claims regarding the raid and said that as per sources Raghav Chadha is reportedly behind the ED action against Ashok Mittal.
Bharadwaj further alleged that the developments appear to be connected and claimed that Chadha was earlier threatened by the ED and out of fear or other reasons allegedly acted against his own party and he further linked the sequence of events mentioning how Chadha’s removal from the Deputy Leader post, Mittal’s appointment, the ED raid and Chadha receiving Z+ security are all suggesting they appear connected.
However it is important to highlight that these are allegations and claims made by Saurabh Bharadwaj and no official confirmation has been given by the ED or any government authority regarding these claims so far and officials have not released any detailed statement on the raid yet and further information is awaited as the investigation continues.
