The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted a raid at the residence and other properties of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal in Jalandhar. According to information received the ED team reached his residence early in the morning and began search operations and police force was also deployed outside the house during the raid.
Sources said that the team that carried out the raid came from Delhi and was accompanied by Punjab officials and it is also being reported that preparations for this action had been going on for nearly a week and the officer leading the operation was reportedly staying in Jalandhar during this period to plan the raid.
It is important to note that recently Raghav Chadha was removed from the post of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and Ashok Mittal was appointed in his place. Ashok Mittal is also the founder and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University and became a Rajya Sabha MP in 2022.
Officials have not released any detailed statement yet and further information is awaited as the investigation continues.
