SGPC demands strict action after AI images show cricketers bare-head at Golden Temple

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly objected to these developments and urged authorities to take strict action

A fresh controversy has emerged around some AI-generated visuals linked to Golden Temple in Amritsar ones again after multiple images and videos surfaced on social media showing religious sensitivities being violated. According to information a cricket fan page shared AI-generated images on Facebook showing popular cricketers and Bollywood celebrities at the Golden Temple and in these visuals, some individuals were shown with their heads uncovered which goes against Sikh religious protocol.

What is objectionable in the pictures?

In the first image cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Arshdeep Singh and Abhishek Sharma appear along with Abhishek Sharma’s mother, while Arshdeep Singh and Abhishek Sharma are shown with their heads covered and his mother is seen with a dupatta over her head, Yuvraj Singh is shown without any head covering with the Golden Temple visible in the background of the image clearly.

In the second image cricketers Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, along with Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh are shown together and in this image, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Ranveer Singh are depicted with their heads covered while Hardik Pandya is shown bareheaded again with the Golden Temple clearly visible in the background.

Second instance with days

This comes just days after another AI-generated video went viral a few days ago allegedly showing a skeleton in the Golden Temple entering the langar hall wearing shoes.

SGPC strongly objects

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly objected to these developments and urged authorities to take strict action and called for strong laws to deal with misuse of AI in ways that hurt religious sentiments.
