

An AI-generated video is being circulating on social media which has drawn objections from members of Sikh community over its depiction of scenes associated with the Golden Temple. The video in question was uploaded on Instagram around five days ago and has garnered around 7 Lakh views, along with thousands of likes and shares.
The video portrays a skeleton character visiting Amritsar and includes various sequences set around the Golden Temple complex. In certain scenes, that have drawn backlash, the character is shown wearing a turban while moving within the parikrama and later inside the langar hall, notably wearing shoes in these areas, which is considered inappropriate within the sanctity and established religious practices of the shrine.
Members of the Sikh community have expressed concern and objection, stating that such portrayals hurt religious sentiments, reportedly the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages Sikh gurdwaras, has taken note of the matter.
SGPC member Gurcharan Singh Grewal confirmed that the video has come to their attention and said that it will be examined by the committee and affirms that further action will be taken based on the findings of the review.
The video is approximately 1 minute and 36 seconds long and follows a narrative format depicting a seven-day visit to Amritsar. It includes references to key locations such as the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, and local markets, while attempting to present the city’s culture and spirit through AI-generated visuals, however, drew criticism for lack of better understanding such portrayals.
