Short circuit suspected cause of fire that claimed the life of Congress MLA's relative in Jalandhar

It is being reported that the victim, Rubika was mentally ill, she was resting on her bed at the time of the incident.

A fire broke out at the house situated in Vijay Nagar late Monday night. The house belonged to a relative of Congress MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary. As per reports a 30-year-old woman, Rubika was consumed by the flames and lost her life in this incident. Allegedly, due to the presence of PVC sheets in the room the fire spread rapidly. It is being reported that the victim, Rubika was mentally ill and was resting on her bed at the time of the incident. Due to her condition she was unable to raise an alarm and got trapped in the fire.

Talking more about the incident, an official from the Fire Department Rajinder Kumar Sahota shares the details of the accident. He says that the department got a call about the incident yesterday after which the fire department team was deployed to tend to it. Upon arriving at the scene, it was observed that the fire broken out at the second floor of the house. The woman was already rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment before the fire department team even arrived. Three fire engines were required to put the flames down. As per preliminary examination, the cause of fire is said to be an electrical short circuit.

Currently, Police Station 4 is probing the matter and the case is under investigation.
