Did you suffer stomach infection or loose motion in the past few days, well you are are not alone. A surge in patients related stomach infections or loose motion has been witnessed. People in Punjab are also witnessing similar problems. Now, the question arises is it because of viral or like people often 'It's The Breeze!'.
Well, Dr. Naresh Batla of ESI Hospital informed True Scoop that people in Punjab are coming up with similar complaints. Dr. Batla stated that the stomach related problems originate from water-borne disease.
Interestingly, entire Punjab has witnessed water-logging and floods. Continue reading below to know what Dr. Naresh Batla said-
Dr. Batla said, "The stomach problem such as loose motion cases that are frequently coming these days is actually water-borne disease. Because the state has been hit by flood and water-logging. The water is adulterated. The sewerage water also plays a factor in it. The water is not much pure."
"Cases of leptospirosis are also coming. Leptospirosis generates from rats excreta. Loose motion cases are also coming. Hygiene of people is not up to the mark now. Vegetables outside are totally exposed, flood water is also contributing to it," added Dr. Batla.
"Wherever there is water accumulated, water-borne disease will start spreading. For example, when the overflowing of water stops then the water will become stagnant and will get accumulate at one place. This is an upcoming danger after Punjab Floods. Animals have died in those waters," said Dr. Batla.
He further said, "So, the stomach problem nowadays is because food is exposed. In fact, I advice to people that dont eat salad these days because they are exposed and washed only by water at home. I advice that people should try to eat home-made food these days. Drink boiled water. Even though you drink filter water, my advise it to boil it then consume it. Because nowadays filters are also faulty. If your water filter is faulty, get it repaired."
Dr. Batla said, "Their (people in flood affected areas) health more at risk as compared to before. The stagnant water spreads more disease. The stagnant water will go underground, by mixing with dirt and other dead animals and will get mixed with underground water."
"The common disease that often affect people are viral Hepatitis A, Hepatitis E, loose motion. Dengue and Malaria cases will also start to come. Dengue mosquito generally pops up at stagnant fresh water even if it kept in a small bowl. It generally bites people in daytime. My advice is wear full sleeves clothes, drink boiled water, keep yourself hydrated. Always keep ORS with you and consume it as well and avoid eating outside food."
