A tragic accident happened at Chaulang toll plaza on the National Highway between Jalandhar and Pathankot. The accident resulted in the death of three people last night. The accident happened at 9 pm when the Ertiga car collided with a stationary pick-up vehicle. Dr. Shabnam Saini, principal of Dasuya’s KMS College, and her 18-year-old son Tushant were killed in the accident. Rahul, alias Mittu, was driving the pick-up vehicle from Gurdaspur.
The pick-up cleaner also suffered severe injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment at present.
According to eyewitnesses, the Ertiga vehicle collided at high speed with the stationary pick-up vehicle at the toll plaza. The workers at the toll plaza immediately reached the spot and took out the injured from the wreckage of the vehicles before the emergency services arrived at the spot.
Dr. Shabnam had returned from the United States with her son Tushant to visit her daughter in Jalandhar.
The accident happened when the woman and her son were on their way home from the visit.
The cause of the accident is still unknown, although it is suspected that the pick-up vehicle was parked at the toll plaza when it was hit by the Ertiga vehicle.
Condolences have been sent by local leaders, friends, and family members, which proves that the accident was untimely and tragic.
The authorities have asked the drivers to be careful when passing through the toll plaza and follow the traffic safety rules to avoid such accidents in the future.
