AAP Punjab in-charge and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday reviewed the party’s booth-level organisational preparations during a meeting with booth in-charges and block presidents in Jalandhar.
Jalandhar Central Halka in-charge Nitin Kohli was also present at the meeting, which focused on strengthening the party’s grassroots organisation and reviewing preparations for the upcoming elections and during the meeting, Sisodia interacted with booth in-charges and block presidents and took stock of the organisational work carried out so far.
Discussions centred on improving coordination at the booth level, strengthening grassroots activities and ensuring that the party’s organisational structure remains active and prepared for the electoral battle ahead and during the meeting, Sisodia also welcomed the Punjab government’s move to regulate fee hikes in private unaided schools. The Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill-2026 was unanimously passed by the Punjab Legislative Assembly.
Welcoming the legislation, Sisodia said the move would provide relief to parents and protect them from arbitrary increases in school fees, as now under the amendment, private unaided schools will generally not be permitted to increase their fees by more than five per cent over the previous year’s rates.
The legislation also includes provisions for refunds in cases where schools collect fees beyond the permitted limit, according to the provisions highlighted by Sisodia.
Sisodia said regulating fee increases was important to ensure that parents are not burdened with steep and unjustified hikes in school expenses and praised the Punjab government for bringing the measure to regulate fee increases in private unaided educational institutions.
During his Jalandhar visit, Sisodia also targeted the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal over discussions of a possible alliance between the two parties and taking a dig at the proposed BJP-SAD alliance, Sisodia said the people of Punjab had already rejected both parties when they contested separately, he added that the people would now get an opportunity to reject them together.
The remarks came as the AAP continues to focus on strengthening its organisational network at the grassroots level ahead of the upcoming elections and the Jalandhar meeting was part of the party’s booth-level organisational exercise aimed at strengthening coordination among local leaders and workers and preparing the party machinery for the electoral contest.
